Patrick asks how the singer knows his name, and SpongeBob reveals himself and they make up. Patrick begins to chase it until SpongeBob explains that it was a sea urchin the whole time. The sea urchin wakes up from Patrick's tears, rips itself from his face, and runs away. SpongeBob disguises himself as an opera performer as his plan to rescue Patrick from Squidward's tentacles, so Patrick and Squidward could see a lady, which is really SpongeBob, singing opera, which Patrick says "She's beautiful." After SpongeBob sang opera to win Patrick back, Patrick begins to cry and sees HIS beard is really a sea urchin in hibernation, which breaks Patrick's brainwashed state. Then, Squidward and Patrick go to the Opera House. SpongeBob comes up with a plan to snap Patrick out of his brainwashing state. Squidward stops him and says that they are through with him. SpongeBob realizes that the only way to snap Patrick out of his brainwashing state is to rescue him from Squidward and restore his friendship. SpongeBob sees Squidward and Patrick walking and Squidward mentions that the beard was the best thing that ever happened to Patrick other than himself. Then, they go to the art place and SpongeBob follows them around and Patrick and Squidward tell the security to kick him out and he first put him out softly, but he does not leave, so he ends up kicking him. They then go to a restaurant, and Patrick and Squidward order some tetrazzini while SpongeBob orders the milk and cookies. Patrick likes his look until Squidward reminds him that he really should not. The three go into Squidward's house for a grown-up makeover. SpongeBob thinks Patrick is captured by Squidward and brainwashed as his apprentice, sidekick and pawn. He decides to follow them, promising he will learn how to be mature as well. When Squidward passes by and notices the beard, he offers to teach Patrick everything he knows about how to be mature, much to SpongeBob's dismay. Suddenly, Patrick falls asleep, where he is revealed to have suddenly grown a beard when he awakens. Then, in true Poetry SLAMMED fashion, they each improvise a limerick based on the words "tickle" and "Texas".The episode starts off as SpongeBob and Patrick walk to each other and then they start to play - the idea of their game is to holler at the vehicles that pass by, which angers Squidward and some of the people in the vehicles. Mike also shares the CLASSIC limerick "There once was a man from Nantucket".Ĭonnor then reads his poems "It's Time" and "Cat-Scratch Fever", followed by Mike's three APPROPRIATELY UNTITLED Limericks. The example poem is from the Nickelodeon cartoon, SpongeBob SquarePants. They talk about Mike's general air of whimsy and the similarities between writing a limerick and writing a joke. Connor's guest is friend, and fellow co-host of Poetry SLAMMED, Mike Marlow.

Write the main topic at the top of the paper. Take out a piece of paper, or open a new document on your computer.Write whatever comes into your mind and don’t judge what you are writing. A free-write is a chance for you to let your thoughts flow on a piece of paper. Answer questions like: “I was surprised by…” or “I discovered…” For example, you may look over the clustered words and note “I was surprised by how often I mention my mother in relation to Spring.” Or, “I discovered I may want to write about how Spring means new life.”ĭo a free-write.Or if there are a lot of clustered words that focus on “flowers", this may be another way to approach “Spring.” If you have clustered together several words that relate to “new life”, for example, maybe this may be a good approach for the vignette. Focus on how the words relate to the main topic. Some of the terms may end up uncircled, but these lone words can still be useful. Continue doing this with the other words. Draw a circle around words that relate to each other and draw a line between the circled words to connect them. Once you feel you have written enough words around the main topic, start to cluster the words.Simply let the words flow around the main topic. Don’t worry about organizing the words as you write. For example, for “Spring”, you might write “flowers”, “rain”, “Spring break”, “new life”.Moving out from the center, write down other words that pop into your mind that relate to “Spring”. Write your main topic or subject in the middle of the paper. You will create a cluster or group of words around a theme or idea. An association diagram is also known as a clustering technique. So the reader is left with the feeling of being held down or tethered to someone, just like the narrator.Ĭreate an association diagram. The narrator’s feeling of being weighed down by her sister is perfectly summed up by the last image. The image of a “balloon tied to an anchor” adds color and texture to the vignette.Until then I am a red balloon, a balloon tied to an anchor. One who will understand my jokes without my having to explain them. Someday I will have a best friend all my own. Cisneros finishes the vignette with an image that sums up the narrator’s feelings. The narrator uses simple, direct language to describe the separate world of boys and girls in her neighborhood. But it sums up the young narrator’s emotion towards the boys and girls in her neighborhood, as well as her relationship with her sister, Nenny. It is a longer vignette, four paragraphs long, or around 1,000 words. In Cisneros’ “The House on Mango Street”, there is a vignette called “Boys & Girls”.With just two lines, the vignette effectively creates a certain mood for the reader. It also uses “softness” to describe dialing the phone, which also connects to the softness of the lining of a music box, or the soft music that plays from a music box. So the vignette combines two images to create one emotion. But complex in that the vignette ties the excitement of dialing a number to the excitement of lifting a music box. Simple in that it describes the feeling you might get as you dial the number of someone you are excited to talk to.
8/3/2023 0 Comments Bass clef key signaturesThe table below shows you all the key signatures on the treble clef.īelow is a table showing you all the key signatures on the bass clef. Let’s look at the major key signatures in the bass clef first with sharps. They are G Major or e minor, D Major or b minor, A Major or f minor, E Major or c minor, B Major or g minor, F Major or d minor, and C Major or a minor. Likewise, in the bass clef, the D major key signature is always written as shown below:Ģ) The key signature is always placed after the clef and before the time signature. There are a total of seven bass clef sharp key signatures. For instance, the D major key signature in the treble clef is always written as shown below: Two important points to remember about key signaturesġ) In writing key signatures, note the position and order of the flats or sharps. Below is the same piece of music in G major but with the key signature added at the beginning.Īny sharp or flat present in the key signature, causes all notes with that letter name in the piece to be sharpened or flattened (not just the one on a particular line or space, as is the case with accidentals). To get around this, the main sharps or flats in a piece are grouped and placed at the beginning of each staff, just after the clef sign. As you can tell, this can make a music score cluttered and thus difficult to read. Notice all the sharps in front of the F note (circled in red). This could mean that there could be lots of sharps written in the score. Therefore, when you play a song in G major, you will normally play the note F sharp instead of note F. Notice how in the G major scale there is an F sharp note. A song in the key of G major is based on the G major scale. Therefore, a song in C major does not normally have sharps or flats. The Solutionbelow shows the Amajor key signature on the treble clef and bass clef. A song in the key of C major is based on the notes of the C major scale. When we talk about the key of a piece of music, we are referring to the scale that is used to make up the melodies and chords. factory replacement canvas) with the same high quality, precision fit if it originally made the canvas specifically for your boat. There may have been a few select colors or even signature colors unique to the boat brand making these the "factory canvas" options recommended for your boat. A pad bottom, 19 degree hull, about 1,400 Lbs and well balanced.Likely your boat came with, or you had the option to buy, a boat cover, top or enclosure directly from your boat's manufacturer made specifically for your boat's model and year. The last “new” boat when Combs was at the helm was the 21 Pulsare. If you look at a Starflite hull, it actually has steps and notch in the transom so you could tell they were trying to innovate in many ways. The ZT models were a modern version of the Convincors, with molded swim platforms and stepped hulls. The Convincor models were deep, straight Vs and were very good performers, if not a little old school. Early models had shallow deadrise V hulls or small pads, and when the larger models came in, Checkmate started using 22 and 24 degree hulls for superior rough water handling. Over the years, Checkmate hulls changed in design, and Checkmate experimented with many configurations. That’s a fast 21 foot boat by any measure. There are some custom rigged 21 Pulsares out there, most notably by Randy Corson of Florida, that were running 95 to 97 MPH with Mercury Racing 300 XSs. The 2100 is in many ways their most well rounded model, fast, sleek and a very good design overall. Some Checkmates are pretty fast, not as fast as more dedicated performance boat companies, but for family market boats, very good performers. The best Checkmate models to me were still being made up until recently, the 2100 Pulsare, and the 2400 Pulsare closed deck models. Even today, some very notable boat builders use wood transoms, so the criticism aimed at that type of construction is valid but one could make a case for using it. Some of the most well known and respected boats built today use balsa in some of their construction, mostly for the natural composite’s incredible strength to weight and reasonable cost. To be fair, wood was possibly the best option for structure up until about the late nineties when closed cell foam and other composite boards became more viable. All Checkmate Boats were cored with balsa with a pretty solid layup, and even though they used wood stringers and transoms, they usually built them well enough that they lasted a very long time. Their gelcoat work is usually excellent, all colors in the gel and a great finish. I would say they weren’t pioneer’s in any one thing, but did everything well. Checkmate’s unique design, simplicity and consistent quality were their keys to success.Įven though I’m a little critical of Checkmate Boats’ quality over the years, compared to many mainstream builders, they have very good quality. After that, my Dad got a new 1997 Checkmate 21 Pulsare, which is still in the family. The sleek Checkmate was a head turner back then not the fastest, but a solid boat, great build quality and that signature Checkmate look. Checkmates were pretty common where I grew up and my Dad bought a used 1991 Starflite with a Mercury 3.4 275 when I was about 15 years old. I really like Checkmate Boats and as a kid I got to meet Bill Combs at the Chicago Marine Exhibition, then one of the largest marine industry shows, and it was a highlight for me. There are a few reasons Checkmate lasted as long as they did and it is worth looking at as the business of building boats has not changed all that much in some ways. But even though he helped spawn one of their biggest competitors operating in the same town it actually may have helped Checkmate’s staying power. Would Bill Combs anticipate how big Checkmate and Baja Boats would become? Probably not. At least that’s how I remember the story going. Cobra essentially was a small fabrication shop down the street in Bucyrus Ohio and used a mold with Bill Comb’ blessing to get started, the 16’ Cobra. What is amazing is Combs and Downward were instrumental in Cobra boats starting, which became Baja boats, their nemesis. They started in sales and service but became interested in racing, which led to manufacturing not soon after. Bill and his original partner Bill Downward were influential in the performance boat movement in the sixties. Ohio has a unique history in performance boats but it would be impossible to talk about boats and Ohio, without mentioning Bill Combs and Checkmate Boats. 8/3/2023 0 Comments Quip metal toothbrushOral-B Pro 1000 Power Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush: Selling for about $50, the Pro 1000 Power Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush has a round, rotating brush head ( view on Amazon). The replaceable brush head comes off by pulling it while applying a little bit of pressure on the seam. While this isn’t typically at the top of the list of toothbrush traits, I have to admit it’s a plus for me. With an almost Instagrammable appearance, the product definitely has a cool factor.
